Why You Should Restrict WordPress Admin Access

So, your small business isn’t in it for the short term. So why would you choose a website host that is clearly stuck in the past and doing the exact same thing year after year? No jab at boxes you self-manage in your office or paying low overhead for hosting. But then again, you’re probably not getting a whole lot of traffic to your site. And frankly, you don’t think the website does anything for your business.
We don’t think it’s your website, we know it’s your host.
Plant seeds in the future for your business by investing in a company that is revolutionizing the entire WordPress hosting industry.
Rocket.net is different from other more typical or “commodity” hosting options. That’s important. Why? Because good web hosting is at the heart of any successful website. Whether you use a CMS like WordPress or develop your own website, you need web space to make your site accessible on the Internet.
Finding good web hosting is unfortunately not always easy. There are too many providers out there that don’t meet the bar… Some don’t have all the necessary features you need, some are too expensive for the support they offer, while others run websites on slow and cluttered servers.
The quality of providers is not always the best because web space has become a mass business – it’s become a commodity item and providers are competing on price. There are too many providers trying to accommodate as many customers as possible on one server to keep that price down. The result in many cases: is slow-loading websites, too many customers sharing the same server, or server failures where your site is not accessible at all.
Rocket.net will never be a commodity hosting provider. Period.
What sets Rocket.net apart?
These and other Rocket features were designed to provide our customers with a reliable and hassle-free hosting experience, tailored to their specific needs.
Rocket.net isn’t just another hosting service. We’re a hosting service with an Edge. A premium option that offers you a superior level of performance, security, and support for your websites.
When we were in the planning stages of launching Rocket.net, we were always amazed to see the same thing on virtually every hosting provider’s website. Something like “We’re 200-300 times faster” or “Google Cloud makes us the fastest.”
The problem was (and still is) those claims just aren’t valid.
Before Rocket.net, Ben spent 18 years in the hosting industry, helping some of the biggest names in the business launch and grow. He helped relaunch the entire hosting product line at GoDaddy in 2013, making GoDaddy a genuine hosting company for the first time in its history. With an average daily sign-up of 2600 accounts, they saw hosting at scale like never before.
However, customers were underserved, and websites weren’t performing where they needed to be.
We launched Rocket.net to fix the issues at hand and set the standard for the hosting industry. We’ve set out to create the world’s fastest WordPress hosting because we understand the impact speed has on your website’s performance and the success of your business.
“WP Engine, Flywheel, Google Cloud, Google Cloud, all of these companies are doing the same thing. One of the things I did from a product perspective when building this company was thinking, I don’t wanna do the same thing.
Rocket comes with a lot of different tooling so customers don’t have to go out and buy these things. They don’t have to get their PhD in CDN optimization and things like that.
Rocket wants to help educate people on what the different types of hosting are, what to look for in a provider, and learn from the mistakes that we’ve either tried to correct in our own companies or that we’ve made in the past.”

In 2022, Rocket.net took the WordPress hosting industry by storm. From launching several new customer-driven features, a control panel refresh, epic revenue growth, strong partnerships, and a complete rebrand, we had an amazing year.
Everything we did in 2022 positioned us for even greater success in the future, and we’re already seeing that success in the form of new features and more customers so far in 2023.
Like everyone, we faced a lot of challenges in 2022. There was the ongoing pandemic and the highly competitive nature of the hosting industry. However, Rocket.net was able to overcome these challenges and emerge stronger thanks to the dedication and hard work of our team and our customers — like you!
If you ‘have the Edge’ you have an advantage. You’re in a more favorable position than others. That’s exactly what your WordPress websites have when they’re hosted with Rocket.net.
We’ve built our platform from the start with an Edge-first mentality. Since launching, Rocket.net has been honing what’s arguably the most robust and flexible integration with Cloudflare Enterprise.
At Rocket.net. Cloudflare Enterprise isn’t an add-on or feature – it’s the future.
Between Google pushing Core Web Vitals and other hosting providers pushing “Cloudflare Enterprise” with no substance other than the buzzwords, you may not realize just how important the Edge is for your website.
Simply put, the Edge is as close as you can possibly get your website content to your end-user. All the time, wherever they are. That makes a game changing experience for people visiting your site.
Rocket.net provides its customers with Cloudflare Edge Analytics directly inside its portal. The new Edge Analytics report provides customers with insights into website performance, including page load times, request volumes, and more. The report allows users to drill down into both the CDN and WAF for even more detailed information.
There’s a big difference between Google Analytics and Edge Reporting. Google Analytics tracks visitors that have JavaScript enabled, which generally means that the visitor being tracked is a human who is using a standard web browser. In contrast, Rocket.net tracks all visitors to a website, including bots, crawlers, and other automation.
Rocket.net tracks all HTTP GET requests made to a website, regardless of whether the visitor is human or not, providing a clearer picture of all visitors to a website.
Website analytics are ultra important in optimizing performance and improving the user experience. Cloudflare’s Edge analytics feature can be a powerful tool for achieving these goals.
Rocket’s WordPress Access Logs from the Edge allows customers to understand visitor activity on their WordPress site. With the help of Cloudflare’s log pull capability, raw access logs are constantly pulled from the Edge and stored in Rocket.net’s database.
Customers can access these logs up to 72 hours back and use them to find specific actions, such as 404 errors. This data will be useful for upcoming feature releases on the Rocket.net platform.
Rocket’s Smart Caching is an improved caching system that helps identify and purge only the necessary assets from a website cache, resulting in a better visitor experience.
Previously, Rocket.net’s cache purge plugin would purge all pages, resulting in unnecessary work on the WordPress installation.
With Smart Caching, only HTML assets are purged, while CSS, JS, and images are left in the cache. This new feature helps improve the cache hit ratio, provides stability for core web vitals and offers consistent cache hits on images for Google search, Pinterest, and more.
File manager, image optimization, security and more, you can dump all those plugins as everything can be easily accessed directly from the the Rocket Control Panel and included in our pricing. No sneaky upsells!
Rocket’s customer-driven feature WordPress Activity Logging provides a point-in-time changelog for WordPress installations without bloating your database. This feature allows users to track all changes made to their WordPress site, from plugin management to user logins and helps to identify any issues that may arise.
It also enhances WordPress security by providing granular insight into failed login attempts, allowing the platform to create unique rulesets across the entire platform, thus protecting users’ WordPress sites to the maximum.
WordPress Activity Logging isn’t a plugin either. To enable the feature, customers simply log in to their Rocket.net account, navigate to the new Logs section, and click the Enable button.
The future moves forward, that’s kind of the basic definition of it. No one wants a static website that never gets updated or features that are outdated as soon as you buy your new phone (cough, apple cough).
Here are some of our recent feature launches so far in 2023.
And more announcements coming soon!
Are you ready to move forward? Let’s work in the future – together.
